4 Paw Friend is a dog walking service covering Nine Elms, Battersea and the streets around Battersea Power Station. We collect your dog from your home, take them out for a proper walk, and bring them back.
Most of the homes we collect from around Nine Elms and the Power Station are flats. That is the whole reason this service exists here: no garden, no back door, and a dog who still needs to run.
The problem with owning a dog in a Nine Elms flat
Riverside Nine Elms and the Battersea Power Station development are dense, largely new-build, and largely apartments. A dog living there has no private outdoor space of their own, and a lift and a lobby between them and the pavement.
If you are out at work, that is a long stretch for a dog with nowhere to go. A quick trip round the block before and after work is not the same as being let off the lead somewhere open.
We collect from your building, drive your dog to a suitable walking location with real space, and bring them home afterwards.
How collection works from flats and apartment buildings
Every service is door to door. A walker comes to you, collects your dog and transports them safely to the walk, then returns them home the same day.
You do not need to be at home. Many of our Nine Elms and Battersea clients leave a key with us, and we are fully insured for key holding. If your building has its own access arrangements, tell us at the meet and greet and we will work with whatever is already in place.
Where your dog is walked
We collect from Nine Elms and Battersea and transport dogs to suitable walking locations with genuine open space, including Lambeth parks where we hold a professional dog walking licence permitting off-lead walking, with a maximum of six dogs off lead at any one time.
Your collection address does not need to be in Lambeth. Where you live and where your dog is walked are two different things, and the travelling is our job, not yours.
Whether your dog goes off lead depends on their recall and how they are around other dogs. We agree that with you rather than decide it for you.
Nine Elms
We collect from homes throughout Nine Elms, including the residential blocks along Nine Elms Lane and the surrounding riverside streets.
Battersea Power Station
We collect from the residential buildings in and around the Battersea Power Station development. It is one of the densest concentrations of flat-dwelling dog owners in South London, and almost none of those homes have a garden.
Battersea and Battersea Park
We collect from across Battersea, including the streets around Battersea Park. If you live near the park but want your dog properly exercised while you are at work, we can collect and walk them during the day rather than you fitting it around your commute.
Midday walks for people who work away from home
The most common request we get from this part of South London is a walk in the middle of the day, for owners who leave early and get back late. A midday walk breaks up the day and gets your dog out of the flat.
Group walks or solo walks?
Group walks suit sociable dogs. Solo walks suit dogs who are nervous, reactive, elderly, recovering from injury, or who simply do better on their own.
For flat-living dogs who do not meet many other dogs day to day, a small group can be genuinely good for them. But no dog joins a group without a meet and greet first, and if yours is not suited to it we will say so and offer solo walks instead.
Puppies and first-time owners
A lot of dogs in new-build developments are first dogs, and a lot of them are puppies. For a puppy not yet ready for a full walk, home visits cover feeding, toilet breaks, company and check-ins during the day.
Nervous and reactive dogs start solo. Some join a small group later, and some never do, which is a perfectly good outcome.
